The precise and rapid identification of molds is becoming increasingly important, while classical culture-based methods are reaching their limits. To continue providing accurate and reliable results, Labor LS is expanding its service portfolio: starting mid-January 2026, mold identification will be performed routinely using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
This advanced technology is well established in modern microbiology and enables significantly faster and more reliable identification compared to conventional methods. By reducing lengthy cultivation phases and utilizing an extensive, validated database, MALDI-TOF contributes to improved process efficiency as well as enhanced result reliability.
An additional benefit of this technology is the unambiguous identification of the reference strain Aspergillus brasiliensis. Test reports will therefore reflect the currently valid taxonomy once confirmation has been successfully completed. As always, all results undergo thorough plausibility checks, and the use of mass spectrometry is documented transparently in the test reports.
We would be happy to provide you with detailed information on MALDI ToF mass spectrometry and the benefits it offers. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
