Identification of microorganisms
The demands placed on the quality control of products are constantly increasing, the associated production processes are becoming more complex and the demands on the production environment more stringent.
Labor LS performs the correct identification of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts and moulds using biochemical, molecular and molecular biological methods. Another core competence in the field of germ identification is given by the fine diagnostics of moulds. Based on many years of experience in this field, we are able to reliably identify moulds down to the species level in terms of culture morphology and microscopy.
A further core competence lies in the comprehensive plausibility control of the results: only when the cultural morphology, the result of the Gram staining and the identification result from the database of the used system match and are conclusive, the result is released. This special service guarantees the quality and reliability of the results.
The following methods have been established for the identification of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts or moulds:
- Biochemical identification (API strip test using the VITEK®/API® system)
- Molecular, mass spectrometry techniques (MALDI-TOF MS)
- Molecular biological tests (16S rDNA typing of bacteria and 28S/26SrDNA typing of yeasts and moulds)
